Empowered Learning Transformation Centers
Empowered Learning Transformation Centers is a private, nonprofit preschool.
Since 1995, Empowered Learning Transformation Centers has supported families of children with disabilities.
Serving Children and Their Families
Empowered Learning Transformation Centers is open to any child, from age three to age five, with a disability. All of our programs are available at no charge to families.
Self-Contained and Integrated Classrooms
The Center operates in Albany, Schenectady, and Troy. All sites have access to a large gym and/or gross motor area, an adapted playground and outdoor play areas.
Our mission is to act upon our beliefs, nurturing, teaching, and supporting Empowered Learning Transformation Centers children and families to enhance the achievement of children's educational and therapeutic goals.
Approval
Empowered Learning Transformation Centers is approved by the New Jersey State Education Department, the Department of Health and the New Jersey State Office of Children and Family Services.
Board of Trustees
Empowered Learning Transformation Centers is supervised by an unpaid Board of Trustees composed of interested community professionals and parents of children currently enrolled in one of Empowered Learning Transformation Centers programs.
Self-Contained Classroom provides students with a smaller class size and high staff ratio in a highly structured, language intensive environment. All students receive special education services within an appropriate peer group. The Self-Contained Team consists of a special educator, two teaching assistants, speech therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and a social worker. Class size is either 8 or 12 students with inclusion opportunities daily.
Integrated Classroom provides a structured, language-rich program for preschoolers with special needs alongside typically developing peers. The Integrated Team consists of a special educator, early childhood teacher, teaching assistant, speech therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and a social worker. Class size is 16.
Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) are provided by a special educator in the child’s home, daycare, nursery school, or child care location.
Related Services provided in the child’s home, child care location, daycare, nursery school: Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), Speech and Language Therapy, Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), Assistive Technology (AT), Counseling.
Multidisciplinary Evaluations
Supplemental Evaluations available: Speech, Education, Psychologist, OT, PT, Vision, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), Assistive Technology (AT).
Family Support Services
Includes Service Coordination, Social Skill Group, Social Work, Counseling, Effective Parenting Skills, Crisis Intervention, Financial Advocacy, Parent/Family Support, and Behavior Management.
