Empowered Learning Transformation Centers
You have more than likely heard of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD & ADD). Children with ADHD can have difficulty sitting still, paying attention, and can be hyperactive. The symptoms of ADHD are usually visible early on in childhood, but can go undiagnosed until later on in life. By evaluating and diagnosing ADHD early on, it can allow your child to adapt and and have a better understanding of some of the difficulties they have with concentrating and focusing.
Pediatric ADD & ADHD Treatment
There are different options available to help children and adolescents with ADHD improve their focus and become more controlled.
Behavior changing therapy: Through behavior changing therapy, children with ADHD or ADD are taught to improve their positive behavior and stop their negative behavior. Behavior management is a collaborative effort between parents, teachers, our office, and other people who have regular contact with the child.
Medication: Medication is not necessary for every child with ADHD. For milder cases, behavior therapy and other non-medicinal treatments may be enough. We will need to evaluate the severity of your child’s ADHD before recommending medication.
It’s important to note that children with ADHD or ADD may require additional help in school. They may miss out on important information or have difficulty studying. Because of this, it’s very important that the school is made aware that the child has ADHD so that they can make the appropriate accommodations for them to succeed in their education.
